Bingo Night

Bingo Night is a simple, social weekly activity that works well because it is easy to understand, easy to join, and easy to host when the volunteer is prepared.

Purpose

Bingo exists to create a fun, low-barrier evening activity where guests can participate without needing teams, special skills, or a lot of explanation.

For volunteers, the goal is to:

  • have everything ready before the start
  • explain the prize structure clearly
  • run the game smoothly
  • keep it lively and easy to follow

What it is

Bingo Night is a hosted game run using letsplaybingo.io.

Each guest receives one card only.

There are two prizes:

  1. First completed line
  2. First completed full card

A winning line can be:

  • horizontal
  • vertical
  • diagonal

Each winner gets one free drink at the bar.

Volunteer responsibilities

Before bingo:

  • Prepare the game in advance
  • Make sure you can access letsplaybingo.io
  • Have the cards ready
  • Have the coffee beans ready as markers
  • Arrive at least 30 minutes to 1 hour early to prepare

During bingo:

  • Explain the rules clearly
  • Make sure guests know they only get one card each
  • Call numbers clearly
  • Keep the pace smooth
  • Award the first prize for a line
  • Then continue until someone gets a full card

How volunteers should explain it

  • “Bingo starts at 7 tonight.”
  • “Each guest gets one card.”
  • “First prize is for the first bingo line — horizontal, vertical, or diagonal.”
  • “Second prize is for the first full card.”
  • “Each winning guest gets a free drink.”

Common guest questions

Can I take more than one card?

  • No, one card per guest.

What counts as a line?

  • Horizontal, vertical, or diagonal.

What do I win?

  • One free drink for the first line winner, and one free drink for the full card winner.

How long does it usually take?

  • Around an hour.

What not to do

  • Do not start without cards or markers ready
  • Do not forget that guests only get one card each
  • Do not explain the prize structure unclearly
  • Do not forget to separate the line prize from the full card prize
  • Do not rush through the calls too fast
  • Do not arrive unprepared

What success looks like

  • The game starts on time
  • Guests understand the rules immediately
  • Cards and markers are ready before the event
  • The pace feels fun and easy to follow
  • Both prizes are awarded clearly
  • The whole activity feels simple, lively, and well hosted

One-line summary

Bingo Night works best when the volunteer is fully prepared, explains the two-prize format clearly, and keeps the game moving at a fun pace.
